Supported services
YouTube TV, for now. Pinch Remote is built so that other live TV services can be added later; if there’s one you’d use, say so.
Why it’s free
Pinch Remote is a small utility, not a business. There’s no subscription, no in-app purchase, no ads and nothing collected about you. It runs entirely in Safari on your headset, on top of the YouTube TV account you already have.
Support
Questions, bugs or ideas: support@pinchremote.com.
It isn’t showing up on tv.youtube.com.
Check that the extension is on and allowed for tv.youtube.com, then reload the page. If Safari asks, choose Always Allow on This Website. The guide fills in after you visit Live once.
Something stopped working.
YouTube TV changes its website from time to time, which can break parts of Pinch Remote until it’s updated. Use the door button to switch to YouTube TV’s own interface in the meantime, and email what you saw; a screenshot helps.
Does it block ads or download shows?
No. Ads play as usual, and recordings use YouTube TV’s own Library. Pinch Remote never copies or saves video.
Is it made by Google or YouTube?
No. It’s an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube.
Privacy policy
Pinch Remote is built so that no one, including us, sees your data. This policy covers the Pinch Remote app and its Safari extension.
What we collect
Nothing. Pinch Remote has no accounts, analytics, advertising, crash reporting or servers of its own, and it doesn’t send information to us or anyone else.
What stays on your device
The extension keeps a few settings in Safari’s extension storage on your headset: favorite and recent channels, whether Pinch Remote’s interface is on, and a copy of the channel guide so channel changes are fast. It never leaves your device, and removing the app deletes it.
YouTube TV
The extension only runs on tv.youtube.com. It reads the page you’re viewing and talks to YouTube TV as you, using the session you’re already signed in with, to show your guide, library and controls. That traffic is between your browser and YouTube TV, the same as using the site directly, and is covered by Google’s privacy policy. Pinch Remote doesn’t collect, store or share your YouTube TV information.
Children
Pinch Remote doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, it will be updated here with a new date.
